"simplicity itself": Every rare once in a while I feel moved to create a more formal work whose content is basically 'just itself' - by which I mean that it's not so much referring to, in this case, the event of snowing as it is to the way the snow is an excuse for the 'look' & sound of the movie of it. The most recent example before this of a Formal Ware movie of mine is called "Cluck", from over 4 years ago. Sometimes I call this type of movie Usical Material or Wallpaper (see this website: http://idioideo.pleintekst.nl/tENTUsical.html ). Usical Material is something intended to be mixed live in a projection performance situation. Sometimes these are very complex to make, such as "Bob Cobbing" ( https://youtu.be/bRxG1rc50bM, https://archive.org/details/BobCobbing ), most of the time they're simpler, such as 16mm loops. This is a simpler example. On March 9, 2022, the 40th anniversary of the Krononautic Organism's Party for People from the Future(s), I got out of bed around 8AM & went to the toilet & looked out the window where I saw extraordinarily large snowflakes (or clusters of snowflakes) falling. I found these extremely pleasing to watch & I thought of how interesting I find the weather to be. I think it's perfectly suited for being a subject of conversational small talk. I set up a camera on a tripod & let it run for over 6 hours. While I was collecting this footage I thought of a few simple things I wanted to do with it - including adding my pieces entitled "Side 1" & "Side 2" from 1979 as the soundtrack. It all fit together very neatly & pleasantly in my mind & that was that. There might even be a thing or 2 that makes this a bit different from what one might expect. I can make such things very easily with a computer & then put them online. It might never be shown elsewhere although I think it would make a good installation movie - perhaps projected onto a waterfall. - March 10, 2022 notes from tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE
